Picea rubens, commonly known as red spruce, is a species native to eastern North America.
Red spruce can live for up to 400 years attaining a height of 26 metres and a crown spread of 6 m, meaning planting location must be given full consideration. It prefers well drained soils.
This tree is primarily used for lumber and pulpwood and musical instruments but also makes an attractive addition to any property.
